Our History

William Ainscough and Sons began trading in 1908 and was the starting point of many other businesses within the Ainscough family which are still trading and growing today.

Ainscough Ltd originally began trading in 1997, founded by William's Great Grandson Samuel Horridge Ainscough, specialising in scrap metal and steel stockists in Wigan.

His son, Samuel James Ainscough, began working for the family business at the age of 16 in 1998, and has overseen 25+ years of steady growth in the metals business including forming Ainscough Hire and purchasing a 9 acre yard in Skelmersdale, where the company is currently located.
